What we do
IUT is an independent, non-profit global organization founded in 1926 that fights for everyone’s right to safe, affordable housing.
We unite tenant organizations over 50 countries and conduct advocacy at both EU and international levels. We share knowledge, build capacity, and organize events to strengthen tenants’ rights worldwide.

International Tenants’ Day 2025
The first Monday in October was established in 1986 as a global day for tenants. Ahead of each international tenants’ day, the IUT select a relevant theme or topic to frame this occasion.

The IUT World Conference coincides with our 100th anniversary and will take place in Malmö, Sweden and Copenhagen, Denmark between the 7th-9th of May.
