The Tenants’ Charter

The Tenants’ Charter is IUT’s main policy document. Our main goals as a tenants’ union are described in the Charter. IUT strives for the right to affordable housing for all.  We consider this a universal human right that should be legally enforced in the constitutions and legislation of every country.

The first version of the Tenants’ Charter was adopted at the IUT Council meeting in Bergen, Norway on 6 June 1974. Thirty years later, in 2003/2004, the second version was adopted by the IUT Congress.  Below  is this second version of the Tenants’ Charter in ten different languages.
