Spain’s housing crisis came to the fore with the eviction of Maricarmen Abascal, 87, who was removed from her Madrid apartment on the 23rd of september. Her evicition sparked protests across the country in the following days and generated comments from both the spanish PM Pedro Sánchez. The IUT Secretaty General Dan Nicander also gave statements to NBC news where he described the situation in Spain as a part of the financialization problem within the housing sector.
