Nigeria’s rental housing market is characterized by significant housing deficits and rapid urbanisation, particularly in Lagos and Abuja. Landlords commonly require large advance rent payments, sometimes for multiple years. Much of the sector operates informally, and weak regulatory enforcement leaves tenants with limited protection.
