Dan Nicander appointed as new IUT Secretary General

Dan Nicander has been appointed as Secretary General to The International Union of Tenants (IUT) as of 1st November 2023.

Previously a regional manager in the Swedish Union of Tenants and Chair of the IUT Housing Policy working Group, Mr. Nicander said upon assuming the role that he was honoured to continue to lead the important work of the IUT in strengthening tenants´ rights across the world.

“Housing is a human right that is yet to be realised. The IUT is an organisation that represents tenants everywhere, and through intensified efforts, we can achieve real change.”

He was appointed by the Swedish Union of Tenants and was met with acclamation in the IUT Board.

Following the announcement, IUT President Marie Linder said: “I am delighted to welcome Mr. Nicander to his new role. He has extensive knowledge of the policy issues we need to address and continues to be a vital asset to the IUT”.

He said that the IUT must continue to develop and grow its membership and intensify the collaboration between tenants´ movements and third-party organisations and universities to affect housing policy worldwide.
