The IUT World Conference is held every three years to share experiences and information from tenants’ movements all over the world to strengthen their work and enhance the situation for tenants. The conference is a way to lift issues and promote the right to decent and safe housing and the situation for tenants in different parts of the world.
We are pleased to share the draft programme for the 23rd IUT World Conference, taking place in Malmö, Sweden and Copenhagen, Denmark on 7–9 May 2026. Please check back regularly, as the programme will be updated continuously.

This special edition marks the 100th anniversary of the International Union of Tenants (IUT), and the conference will bring together tenant representatives, researchers, experts, policy-makers, and allies from across the world. Over three days, participants will take part in keynote speeches, thematic sessions, panel discussions, interactive workshops, study visits in both cities, and a concluding Housing Festival in Copenhagen.
The programme reflects the major themes shaping today’s global housing landscape — including housing as a human right, affordability, financialisation, welfare and housing systems, short‑term rentals, and emerging housing models.
