Renovation wave watch on web TV

As part of the commitments in the European Green Deal, the European Commission is preparing a Renovation Wave initiative with a vision for the short and medium term to kick-start and deliver different levels of renovation of the existing building stock, with accompanying regulatory reinforcement, solid and adapted financial instruments and mechanisms, and good governance. The Renovation Wave, is central to a resilient recovery after the Coronavirus pandemic.

Regional and local authorities have a key role to play to kick-start the Renovation Wave. Not only they manage public buildings and social infrastructure (e.g. schools, or care facilities), they are also in charge of applying regulations –or reforming them to address administrative and other barriers- and determine the local and regional development strategy.
