Citizens’ initiative, the International Union of Tenants’ position

The International Union of Tenants supports this initiative and  encourages its members to collect signatures and find allies for this at their respective national level including from  trade unions, civil society organisations and other stakeholders.

IUT, in its position as a supranational organisation, cannot directly collect signatures. IUT can be a facilitator and direct press and MEP requests to the respective national tenant organisations.

IUT members will continue to work on solutions with the governments and parliaments at the national level.  The IUT liaison office in Brussels will continue to work on political solutions within the EU institutions. Our parliamentary and political work will continue, regardless if this European Citizens’ initiative reaches its targets and/or succeeds or not.
