Consultation on the establishment of a smart readiness indicator for buildings
The new Energy Performance Buildings Directive https://eur-lex.europa.eu/legal-content/EN/TXT/?toc=OJ%3AL%3A2018%3A156%3ATOC&uri=uriserv%3AOJ.L_.2018.156.01.0075.01.ENG foresees in article 8 the implementation of a “Smart Readiness Indicator” (SRI).
The SRI rates the technological efficiency of a building- smart meters, plugs for electro-mobility, energy storage solutions and energy management.
The EU Commission is required to establish an optional common Union scheme for rating the smart readiness of buildings and to detail the technical modalities for the effective implementation of the scheme.
IUT and its members have been invited to contribute to the targeted stakeholder consultation, consisting of 27 multiple choice questions.

The questions are similar to those of the first phase implementing the energy certificates, e.g.: should residential buildings be covered (question 8); only for new or existing buildings (question 9), but also: who should pay the costs! (question 23).
Deadline for answering is October 3.
