Council of Europe Gender Equality Strategy 2018-2023
The Council of Europe is launching a new strategy for gender equality, outlined in the publication «Council of Europe Gender Equality Strategy 2018-2023». The study takes into account the difficulties faced by the Organisation’s member states in implementing the 2014-2017 strategy and links them to the current economic and social situations, which have created new challenges and aggravated some existing problems. It is characterised by a decline in respect for women’s human rights, marked by an upsurge of gender-based violence, a lack of social infrastructure such as daycare places, and economic support such as fairly paid parental leave.
