Labour ready to scrap Section 21 and fund ‘renters’ unions’ Party conference today (Sept 24) is due to hear policy commitments to redraw existing eviction law and set up “renters’ unions”.

Labour says it’s ready to tackle “the biggest cause of homelessness” by scrapping Section 21 allowing private landlords to evict tenants without reason.

Shadow housing minister John Healey is due to announce the policy the party’s conference later today (Sept 24), along with plans for a £20m fund to set up “renters unions” to support tenants in disputes with landlords.
