Two statements from the Swedish Tenants’ Association (Hyresgästföreningen)

The 2023 Annual General Meeting of the Swedish Tenants’ Association (Hyresgästförening) has been held and Marie Linder was elected as the chair of the association. In addition, two joint statements were adopted: 1) Take Sweden out of the current crisis by building more homes and addressing the current housing shortage; 2) Enough is enough! Sweden’s tenants refuse a double increase in rents.

These statements reflect a response to a wider trend in Europe that the housing shortage has reached acute levels whereby the fabric of society is challenged and nowhere near enough homes are being built.
