Nepal: Update from the Nepal Tenants Union in times of Covid-19
IUT affiliated organization Nepal tenant union Rupandehi Nepal has concluded the honour program for householder or landlords.

As all the areas of the world have been infected due to the Corona epidemic. Nepal has also faced full lockdown for 70-80 days and partial lockdown is still in effect. During lockdown period Federation of Tenants Nepal ( umbrella organization of all district organization ) had organized a press conference on 24/may/2020 to raise the voice of affiliated organizations, households and other concerned bodies i.e householder, related organization etc across the country to provide 50% discount in private rental area and 100% discount in government or semi government area, as well as also demanded to concerned government to provide 50% discount in rental tax for those householder who gave discount in rent amount simultaneously. Such demands has been a big support for the rehabilitation of tenants during economic problem due to covid 19.
As a result of that, near about 75% household has provided one month discount, 15% provided 50% discount, 5% provide 100% discount while 5% householder didn’t give any discount to the tenants. On the same way Nepal tenants union, On 14/07/2020 in the present of chief guest Shiva raj Subedi, mayor of sub metropolitan Butwal, guest act. chairman of federation of tenant Nepal Shankar Koirala and chairman of butwal chember had organized an honour program for 60-70(listed) households including Migandra Sherchan, mahindra gopal laucoal, Maheshman Singh etc of sub metropolitan city Butwal who gave 100% discount to tenants.
The Nepal Tenants union Rupandehi also extends special thanks to all the households or landlords who have given the discount of rent of 3 month, 50% or 1 months. And also wishes them good health, longevity and progress.
